watercolor landscape painting of a house: watercolor painting by Karen Cotrina, a proud student of Yong Chen

Watercolor painting by

Karen Cotrina's watercolor learning experience:
Being in a stressful life, watercolor has become my new way to relax. At first, I thought this class was going to be easy; however I came to realize that watercolor involves many techniques. Techniques that only with practice I can maneuver. On the other hand, one of the foundations of watercolor is drawing something that at this current moment I’m having some difficulties. Lucky for me my instructor is one of the best professors I have had. With his patience and passion for his work, he helps me and my classmates to understand and learn this beautiful art.

Step by step I’m losing the fair to draw and I have less stress. Whenever, I’m working on a project I feel like if I can say for hours working on it and don’t stop. I feel like this art takes me to a different place where I can let all my thoughts and creativity set free. All of my experience so far has been helpful to cultivate more passion into this art, and wiliness to learn more every day.
